LEARN TO RACE

Delaware Valley Outboard Racing Association offers the opportunity to lean about the sport of boat racing and try racing a boat before you buy one. But fair warning, once you try one, you're going to want to buy one!

BOATS & MOTORS

Drivers can expect to take a ride in a real raceboat at the end of the course. We'll fit you with a boat that is appropriate for your height, weight and age. Students race three laps by themselves and then have a race against the instructor.

SAFETY EQUIPMENT

Students are fitted with protective pants and a top, a race-specific life jacket and full face helmets. They learn how to safely operate the boat during an on-land instruction class. Everything from the basics, the controls, race strategy and boat design is covered.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Expect to have fun! We start at 8:00AM and go to about 2PM. We ask that students bring closed toed shoes and clothing they can get wet. Sunscreen, sunglasses, water and a camera are a good idea too.

DVORA Driving School • Lock Haven, PA

This is DVORA's only opportunity to learn to drive a race boat. Our driving school is held annually in Lock Haven, PA on the Friday of the Labor Day weekend. The school starts at 8:00AM and the cost is $75 per student, and includes a DVORA membership and a single-day APBA membership. Often the driving school boat is made available to students on a first come, first serve basis to run in the race that same weekend.
